On the BC Day long weekend, we took mom for a hike just to change her routine itinerary and lighten up her mood. Q looked up for various hiking trails and found one that got lots of reviews and recommendations. The trail name is called "
Dog Mountain" and it is up on Mt. Seymour.
It is rated as an EASY trail route and takes 2 hours to get to the peak. To the south-west, there's Vancouver, with Stanley Park, the Lions Gate Bridge and Point Grey. That sounded like a great choice, so there we went.
We arrived at the top of Mt. Seymour where is actually the bottom of the ski hill and start of the hiking routes.

Since it's the first time for all 3 of us, we expected to walk on a fairly flat pebble surface with a wide trail where people can take their dogs for a nice long walk. Surprisingly, it turned out to be narrow trail where we had to step through mud, tree roots, some rocky steps and even un-melted snow!
After walking for over an hour, we finally reached the First Lake. Instead keep going, we took a detour to Dinky Peak and back to where we started. In total, we've walked for over 3 hours!
Since we were in North Van, we stopped by Mom's friend's house. They were so nice and welcoming. They took us to a local popular Greek restaurant. The food was authentic and delicious.
